Sweetest Little Thing is not to be missed in Sackville, New BrunswickPosted: February 7, 2011
There is not doubt in my mind that Sackville, New Brunswick has one the most vibrant artist communities in any Canadian small town. If you have never participated in The Annual Symposium of Art, or maxed out your weekend pass for the summer’s Sappyfest, you are missing out! With every season, the art community of Sackville comes together for something spectacular, and February brings The Sweetest Little Thing.
I heart Sackville (in fact, if Canada Post ever delivers my submission to the auction, it is a triptych valentine professing my love for Struts Gallery). And I am not alone – artists such as Micah Lexier, Barb Hunt, Ed Pien and Jon Sasaki, have created work especially for this auction, online only until Valentine’s Day, February 14th (for those of you who may forget!) at 5pm Atlantic time.
Presented in partnership on Valentine’s Day, The Sweetest Little Thing combines a contemporary art auction with a cake walk and dance. The event has become a seasonal highlight for the community, featuring artists, friends and supporters from across the country and beyond.
The funds raised go directly to the ongoing programming of the galleries.
So visit the website, bid now and often, and if you can get to the soiree on Valentine’s Day at the Owens Art Gallery at 7:30pm, prepare to fall in love.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Sackville
